Then we have the more interesting part: it is entirely possible for a person to react to being shot in that way, since the only mechanical reason people fall down after being shot, short of CNS disruption, is because they think they're *supposed* to!

It's a curious psychological phenomenon -- people learn that people who are shot fall down from media, and so they unconsciously or subconsciously emulate that behaviour.
